Question:
I have just purchased a bright red dress for a cocktail party next month. I love the colour of the dress but I don't know what accessories of shoes to look for. Any tips?

Answer:
Michael Kors once said that he sees 'the colour red as a neutral'. So according to Micheal, your dress can be paired back with any number of colours!
My first tip would be to avoid the obvious - Black. I do love red and black together - but it is very predictable. As practical as black shoes are, why not leave your black shoes for the office on this occasion - have a little fun and experiment with some other colours.
Try a camel coloured or neutral shoe and bag with your dress. Camel and red look very chic together. The neutral coloured shoe will actually elongate your leg rather than cutting up your leg like a black or heavier coloured shoe may do. Opt for a feminine sling back or open toe shoe for cocktail - and think about comfort too when buying shoes because there is no doubt that you will be standing for a while or may end up dancing the night away!
Silver and gold will also look great with red - again opt for a classic shoe, with simple ankle details. Heavy ankle straps or ankle straps that wind up your leg will not do many of us any favours.
Try and match your shoes and clutch if possible - this is not a RULE - but depending on the detail or style of your dress it might be nice to have some flow between the two.
I think that the colour of your frock will really speak for itself, so try and keep the accessories minimal (this would be very different if you had chosen to wear a black dress).
Keep jewellery and make up to a minimum for cocktail parties – a nice drop earring would be perfect.
Everyone loves a lady in red!
Enjoy the night,
