Dannii Minogue welcomes baby boy

Aussie sweetheart Dannii Minogue and partner Kris Smith said they are "thrilled" to announce the arrival of their first child, Ethan Edward Smith.

"On behalf of the three of us," the proud father tweeted, "I would like to thank you all for your kind words and best wishes. It means a lot to us."

Minogue’s management released a statement saying, “Mother and baby are doing well and dad is very proud.”

New mum Dannii's Twitter account has remained quiet as she bonds with her new baby.

"Mother and baby are doing well and dad is very proud," Minogue's management said in a media release.

"They request their privacy at this special time to adjust as new parents."

Earlier in the week Smith appeared to be preparing for fatherhood. "Ah, now a typical dad's Sunday," he tweeted, "sat at the carwash with a coffee and a paper. I've changed."

Baby Ethan was born on Monday, July 5, at the Royal Women's Hospital in Melbourne after complications arose during the planned home birth, the Daily Telegraph reported.

Sister Kylie will head to Australia later this month to meet her new nephew.

As a new Mum myself I fail to understand how anyone cannot be happy for both Dannii and Kris. (Apart from my Husband who is gutted Danni is no longer single)Who cares if she didn't want kids... not everyone is born wanting to be a Mother... it however does not stop them from being a wonderful Mother! Congratulations to you both, love evey moment x

Congratulations on your gorgeous baby. I just had my baby girl 5 months ago and just want to say my baby is the most important thing and i know dannii will be so thrilled. A baby is better than any fame and Dannii you looked amazing in the photos. I was a huge fan when i was only 8 and i cant believe Kylie hasnt come over straightaway. Forget your vain self. Your sister had a baby and you have all the money in the world to just fly out. I guess Kylie thinks money is everything.
I'm happy Danii finally has a child. Now maybe she might concentrate on something useful then what she been doing....give us a good break Minogue....take up motherhood with gusto and leave the show biz to people with talent.
This is a great story congratulations Dannii and Kris, its nice to see you making the media in a beautiful story like this, but dont you find it bloody annoying, that just when Dannii makes the papers with her story, up pops bloody Kylie, give it up girl let your sister have her moment in the sun hey, its not always about you. p.s I love the pic of Dannii, Kris and Ethan her looking all natural beautiful pic, very pretty.

Just want to say how gorgeous Dannii looked in the Twitter photo - she looks healthier than she has looked in years, AND she looks about 10 years younger than she really is! It's so nice to see her NOT caked in makeup! New priorities for her now - life is not all about clothes and makeup. Good luck to her, but yes, I agree, why does the media make such a fuss of the fact she has had a baby?

I agree with robert,how long are we going to hear about her and baby,so what!!women have babies all the time,what makes her so special??she left England cause they were sick of her,what is she doing here? for someone who never wanted kids,and to busy on her looks,hopefully her partener has more sense than her....
A big congrats to danni and kris however maybe the media should not make a huge fuss about it as there are ladies all around the world that are having babies...other than that I say good on her....
